This gene enables cells to detoxify a mild compound and convert it into nutrients, giving transformed cells a natural growth advantage.<\/p>\n<p>We developed <strong>EcoSelect<\/strong>, a novel, antibiotic-free selection marker system inspired by this natural mechanism.
